Who it helps

What it is

Common problems,
rarely talked about.

The pelvic floor is a sling of muscle and connective tissue at the base of your pelvis. It supports the bladder, bowel and (in women) the uterus, controls continence, and works with your breathing and deep core every time you cough, lift or stand up.

When it is too weak, too tense or poorly coordinated, the result can be leakage, urgency, heaviness or pain. These problems are common after pregnancy, around menopause and after prostate surgery, but they are not something you simply have to live with.

Pelvic floor physiotherapy retrains these muscles so they work as part of the whole body, not as an isolated squeeze.

Our approach

External, gentle and private

  • No internal examination at any stage
  • You stay fully clothed for most of the session
  • Everything is explained before we begin, and you can stop at any time
  • A family member or friend is welcome to sit in
  • Prefer a female physiotherapist? You can ask for Dr. Divya Singodia
  • If an internal assessment is needed, we refer you to the right specialist

Everyone

Your sessions

What to expect.

  1. 01

    A private conversation

We start by talking: your symptoms, your history, and what you want to get back to. Nothing is rushed, and you can bring someone with you.

  2. 02

    External assessment

We look at posture, breathing, how your ribs, spine and hips move, and how your core and pelvic floor respond to everyday tasks. There is no internal examination.

  3. 03

    Learning your pelvic floor

Many people squeeze too hard, or not at all. Using Franklin Method® imagery and movement, we help you feel the pelvic floor so you can both contract and relax it.

  4. 04

    Treatment and a home plan

Hands-on work for the hips, back and abdomen where it helps, then a short daily programme that fits your routine. We progress it as you improve.

Training

Certified in the Franklin Method®.

Dr. Raj Maheshwari is a certified Franklin Method® Pelvic Floor Fascia Trainer, trained by the Franklin Method Institute.

The Franklin Method® uses anatomical imagery, breathing and movement to help you sense and control muscles you cannot see. That makes it well suited to the pelvic floor, where most people have little feel for what they are doing. We combine it with standard physiotherapy assessment and exercise progression.

Prefer a female physiotherapist?

Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy FAQ

You asked.
We answered.

Everything you need to know about pelvic floor physiotherapy at C7Physio

No. Our pelvic floor care is entirely external: talking, movement assessment, breathing, exercise and hands-on work around the hips, back and abdomen. If your symptoms need an internal assessment, we will tell you honestly and refer you to the right specialist.

Yes. Men have a pelvic floor too. Pelvic floor training is commonly recommended for leakage after prostate surgery, and it also helps with dribbling and some types of chronic pelvic pain.

Many people do Kegels incorrectly, or keep the pelvic floor tense when it actually needs to relax. Some problems, such as pelvic pain, come from too much tension rather than weakness. An assessment shows what your pelvic floor actually needs.

Gentle breathing and pelvic floor awareness can usually begin in the first weeks after a normal delivery. A fuller programme typically starts around six weeks, or after your doctor has cleared you following a C-section.

It depends on the problem and how long you have had it. Most people come for a few sessions spread over several weeks, because the real work happens in the home programme between visits.

See your doctor promptly if you have blood in your urine, pain or burning when passing urine, fever, a sudden change in bladder or bowel control, or numbness around the groin. These need medical assessment before physiotherapy.
